Supporting Self-Care Workshops
Would you like support on how to Improve Your Child's Self Care Skills & Routines?
Why not join our 5-week Parent Workshop
WHO the workshops are for: Parents of children (Under 12) who need support developing self-care skills. This group is for parents only.
WHAT to expect: Each week, we will focus on a different self-care topic. This coaching-style group encourages parents to share their child's strengths, challenges, and strategies they've tried. The goal is for parents to support and learn from each other. Our Occupational Therapist and Parent Support Advisors will provide information on specific topics and answer questions throughout the sessions. Parents will be encouraged to try the strategies discussed each week.
WHAT topics will be covered:
Week 1: Introduction and goal setting
Week 2: Toileting
Week 3: Mealtime routines (sitting at the table, using cutlery, picky eaters, etc.)
Week 4: Dressing & Grooming (washing, brushing and cutting hair, cutting nails, brushing teeth, etc.)
Follow-up: Discuss what has worked, what has not, and what we can try next.
WHEN the workshops are held: The workshops run once a week for 2 hours over a 4-week period, with a follow-up session three weeks later. Parents need to commit to attending all 5 sessions, even if your child is independent in some areas, as this is a great opportunity to share experiences and learn from each other.
